Well what page would be their "home page?" The current main page?
Obviously RSS feeds would be good. A Web search window. A calendar (I'd already asked for a calendar feature so we could schedule meetings and show upcoming events). I imagine most of the widgets that are available at the administrative level as well, only they would have to be able to distinguish from which community or communities the content would come from. This could be a useful feature for our members who are active in more than one community.
Terrific idea!
For a while now, our members have been asking for the ability to customize their home page. Furthermore implementation a Calendar widget for scheduling meetings and upcoming events would be even better. Interested users can choose to add the Calendar widget and others in the widgets repertoire to their respective home pages.
Being able to customize the Home Page with widgets would be terrific. We have many spaces and folks are generally only interested in specific spaces - not all spaces. The default What's New column is way too long and folks shy away from so much content. Being able to restrict to space relevant content would be a great improvement.
I also, second the motion for a group calendar widget. A group calendar would be used extensively here.
In our case, we have redirected the main page to our primary community. It's sad, but the concept of the home page didn't float here with our use of ClearspaceX, at least not yet. Preferably, I'd like to be able to customize the look/feel for all tabs in the spaces environment. For example, if I create an Overview tab for a community, when they tab off and go to the other tabs, all of that customization is gone. If we are talking about adding widgets to more page, I would suggest that we start with all of the tabs on the spaces main page for each community. Those are my 2 cents. =)
Concerning the Widget Calendar, it would be great if it were possible to synchronize with Outlook, in order to avoid the multiplication of calendars (and possible mistakes of putting 2 meetings at the same time)
We'd love to have an easy way to customize the homepage (a la iGoogle), and we were hoping that was part of the 1.6 release; unfortunately it wasn't. ![]()
As for a wish list, I also strongly vote for the calendar widget, especially if it could ingest standard iCal schedules (like Google). Also, the formatted text widget would be very useful on the front page. An addition, the What's New list length should be customizable (or at least change the parameter DEFAULT_NUM_RESULTS in the MainAction class into a system property).
I'd love to see a Clearspace advanced search widget. It would have the same things that is available from CS's advanced search page, but with the ability to save defaults. This would be great as a space level widget as well.
I'd like to see users being able to personalize personal and group blogs with widgets and RSS feeds. I've had numerous requests to move our company blogs to ClearspaceX but with no easy way to customise individual blog layouts it's going to be difficult if not impossible.
I'd also like to see a 'Communities' widget which a user could edit to only list certain/favourite communities. Again this would help clean up the main page.
Indeed, it would be great to be able to personalize your homepage with widgets and RSS feeds too.
And like iGoogle, could it be multi-tabs (a tab per activity...), so you can have tabs especially made for what you need (of course each "mashup tab" can be personalized by the user, like iGoogle or Live).
Do you plan to add shared bookmarks between users (like Del.icio.us ou Scuttle) in your next ClearSpace versions?
It would be great!!!
