Jive Talks

On the heals of being nominated for a Codie, turns out we're also up for the Intranet Journal product of the year award. But that award is determined by votes, American Idol style.

That means you gotta click three more buttons. This one,  then the radio button under "Document Management/Collaboration Product," and then "submit."

Can we have your support? Bribe-wise, we've got trail mix if you want to stop by the office.

Today we got an email from the Software & Information Industry Association telling us that Clearspace has been selected as a finalist for Best Collaboration Software Solution. Here are the other finalists:

• Adobe Acrobat Connect Professional, Adobe Systems, Inc.

• Citrix GoToMeeting, Citrix Online

• Central Desktop

• Clearspace, Jive Software

• SightSpeed 6.0, SightSpeed, Inc.

We use Adobe Acrobat connect for web-meetings and we like it a lot. Haven't tried GoToMeeting, though I know a lot of people have. Central Desktop is a cool company, we've recently had a good chat with them. Not up to speed on SightSpeed so I'll have to check them out. Looks like a good group!

Yesterday two pretty cool things happened. Clearspace X won InfoWorld's Technology of the Year award for "Best Community Platform." We also had our biggest new hire orientation day in the company's history. I think it was close to 15 new people, which is more people than were at Jive when I started.

Our friends at GigaOm, TechCrunch, ReadWriteWeb and VentureBeat have banded together to create the the Crunchies an award that celebrates startup innovation.

The award was described by Om like this:

They are like the Grammies and the Webbys with a People’s Choice flavor, only for start-ups! The idea is to get the respective communities of various blogs to collaborate and vote and help pick the top start-ups of the year.

We'd love to be nominated for "Most Likely to Succeed," so if you think we have what it takes to "meet future financial success (may be defined as revenue creation, a big exit, or other future accomplishment)," then take a second to nominate Jive today.

We won, we won!

If you're a growth company in Oregon, there's really only one award you want to win: The OEN (Oregon Entrepreneurs Network) Growth Company of the Year. Last Thursday night we won it.

As I mentioned in my speech (which we may have digitally at some point), we lost last year in the working capital category (the smaller category), so it was a nice validation to jump to the big category and win it.

There was solid competition in the form of Snapnames, which was founded by Ray King, a good friend of mine who is now running the very cool Aboutus -- a wikipedia for websites; and Saber Corporation, a software company focused on government that has seen massive growth lately.

It's nice to get validation by your peers, and it's nice to take a (short) timeout to reflect on how far you've come as a business.

We were happy to learn that the Computing Technology Association (CompTIA)the leading trade association for the world's IT industryawarded Clearspace with the Software Innovation Award for " Most Innovative General Business Software."

This is Clearspace's first award and it's from an organization we really like, too. David Sommer, head of Software CEO and vice president, e-business and software solutions for CompTA, said that Jive was "definitely right in a very sweet spot with an incredibly hot solution set that I believe is right on the money." Congrats to the Clearspace team and all our Clearspace customers!
