Member enrollment and administration

Although I am new to Jive, we have had a problem with another SBS rollout in regards to member enrollment and administration. The problem centers on who is responsible for establishing and maintaining profile information. Does anyone have experience in doing this as a centralized admistrative function as opposed to a function left to the individual members?

Thoughts on a mobile access to communities

Many companies are looking to enable social networking sites for access via mobile devices such as the iphone or Blackberry. Taking into consideration the limitations of mobile devices, what features would you like to see available within a mobile UI? Additionally, what common mobile use cases does your organization have for social networking sites and communities?

Access Management

I'm looking for more information about access management and Jive for external use.

1) What are the known issues (gaps) when using Jive to manage access? (i.e. inability to handle whitelist functionality)

2) What access management tools have been used in conjunction with Jive?

2a) What issues have occurred, if any, with that integration?

3) What are the preferred (if any) access management tools to use in conjunction with Jive?

Is there a standard speed check that people have used?

I am at a company with multiple sites (international), preparing to launch SBS 3.0.

During the evaluation period with Clearspace 2.5.3 we had many comments on the load time of some pages. I am not in IT (I'm a chemical engineer), so I don't have all the details on how all the sites are connected to the server. I do know that we are internally hosting, and we don't have it installed exactly as recommended (we aren't running the full linux installation, but an executable). It doesn't really matter how we are connected, my question is not about how to improve the speed, just how to measure it.

My question: Is there a standard speed test that people have used, to put metrics on the time it takes to load a page from different sites?

I suspect making a large document with lots of images might be useful for this, and run time checks from the different sites. I am real curious if others have done anything like this.

We have a CIO that is trying to convince the COO that they can build an effective community utilizing open source technologies. The individuals behind this initiative do not want open source and would like some ammunition they can use to fight this battle. Does anyone have anything they can share?

Integrating social tools/content into a corporate web site

It seems as though most are creating a separate "Community" silo/space/area on their corporate web sites. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with or examples of companies integrating social tools and content (comments, blog content, forums content, etc.) in to their corporate B2B web site.
