Yes. These tools will basically just crawl around the site downloading everything it encounters. You can configure them to not download external content as well.

Thanks Brad.

We're interested in keeping the forums intact as much as possible (ie. threading,etc.), but we also want to keep the attachments that may be associated with the posts. Would WGET or Xenu handle that?

This is strictly for archiving purposes so we don't lose any content and faculty can still go back and review old forums.

If you want to just make copies of the pages (basically flatten the site in to a series of HTML files) I would say that wget or something like Xenu would be a good bet.

If you want a more advanced solution (i.e. just extract the data and create new content from that) there are some things we can do. Let me know which route you want to take and we can work something out!

Do you know if this would also capture any attachments that people have uploaded with a post?

I have used this method to archive a Wordpress site in the past.

the unix wget command could do it - haven't seen a native feature for doing that. Could be useful to have if you have a site that is at risk for being 'slashdotted'

We have a Jive instance that we are interested in archiving the current content and making it available (forum by forum) as a static website, attachments included.

Has anyone ever done this?
