Thoughts on a mobile access to communities

Many companies are looking to enable social networking sites for access via mobile devices such as the iphone or Blackberry. Taking into consideration the limitations of mobile devices, what features would you like to see available within a mobile UI? Additionally, what common mobile use cases does your organization have for social networking sites and communities?

In November I will be giving a presentation at a Learning industry conference about the top objections to social networking. This topic was taken from a series of posts I did.

I would love anyone's feedback on how to overcome / answer these objections. How have you answered some of these? What has worked for you? Feel free to pick one (or more if you would like) and focus your response - don't feel you need to give an answer to every one before you reply.

Top Objections to Social Networking

But all they will do is socialize!
This is disruptive! Our culture will never suppor it.
This doesn't have anything to do with training
Who will control this free flowing information?
We can't let them post anything and everything!
How will we know it is accurate?
What will we do if the information is wrong?
What will we do if the information is out of date?
Our people are not technical. They won't know how to use this.
We don't want them wasting time.
There will be too much info that they will be drowning in it and not be able to find what they need. It is that way already with our public drives and with everyone creating information it will be even more the case.
How will you measure that it is working?
How do you determine ROI? (a different discussion than #12)
Prove that it works - are there other case studies?

Member enrollment and administration

Although I am new to Jive, we have had a problem with another SBS rollout in regards to member enrollment and administration. The problem centers on who is responsible for establishing and maintaining profile information. Does anyone have experience in doing this as a centralized admistrative function as opposed to a function left to the individual members?

We have a CIO that is trying to convince the COO that they can build an effective community utilizing open source technologies. The individuals behind this initiative do not want open source and would like some ammunition they can use to fight this battle. Does anyone have anything they can share?

Facebook intergration

I am not sure if this is the correct place to have this conversation, but I will give it a try. We have been developing facebook fan pages and I would like to explore what are some ways that we could start to connect facebook to clearspace. I guess it dose not stop there just an over all strategies for integration with other social media sites; facebook, twitter, myspace, flickr, youtube.......the list could go on and on. Any comments or ideads would be greatly appreciated.

Clearspace Community vs. Community Server - Throwdown.

I know that this is a Jive Software-hosted site, and as such, this thread may get moved into a graveyard somewhere...but I figure that I would pose the question anyway, and hope that it gets honestly answered.

We are currently evaluating the top two community platforms (according to both Forrester and Gartner), Jive's Clearspace Community 2.5.6 and Telligent's Community Server 2008.5.

These platforms "duke it out", feature-for-feature, every day in companies around the country and around the world.

I'd like 5 real, technical reasons why Jive is the platform that I should champion, and why Community Server falls short.

Barring my banishment from the forum, I await your responses
