jive kb 1.7.5 featured documents question

This should hopefully be easy...

I have a jive kb 1.7.5 installation and one of my users is stating that she no longer has access to mark documents she publishes in a particular forum/area as a featured document... however, when I login (im a member of the administrators group as well...) I do have that option.

I checked the permissions on the forum in question and she has rights to read/rate/create docs read/create comments create image/attachment/recommendation (so all permissions). For "groups" administrators, and marketing also have these same privledges.

However, under "admins/moderators" the marketing group is listed as a moderator, and administrators is both moderator and category admin

What I'm trying to figure out, without making too maky changes to the security, is... exactly what rights do you need to be able to mark a document as "featured".

Jive webservice to search content from external application

I need to search in jive from an external applciation. I am using REST webservice provided by jive. GET http://domain:port/clearspace_context/rpc/rest/searchService/search

The service returns a list of object id's and not objects. I will have to call another service to get the actual object content to be displayed on the search results page. Is there a webservice which can get me the object as well on search. Is there a way to do this in some other way ?

finding documents created/modified after a certain date

I need to find all documents added/modified to a jiveKB system after a certain date. I've poked around a little bit, but there doesn't seem to be any reports included within the KB that will give this result. I queried the DB, but the only thing remotely close that I can find was in jiveDocument, and that was creation date. But the date that resulted was a 15 digit number, that I wasn't really sure how to turn into a normal date syntax. I also assume that this date would not change on a new version(and instead the version would be updated).

(btw, the tables above were from clearspace 2.5.x). I actually haven't looked at the jive KB database yet, as it's production so I didn't want to query it without really knowing what I was looking for, so if the table names are different in jive kb 1.7.5 forgive me.

Hello,

we had a problem with Jive Knowledge Base. Here is the error log file:

2009.02.18 17:41:51 [loadLicenses] The "jive.license" license file was not found
2009.02.18 17:41:51 [error] Jive Knowledge Base was not able to initialize : The "jive.license" license file was not found
com.jivesoftware.base.license.LicenseException: The "jive.license" license file was not found

I put the jive.license file into the directory jiveHome (/opt/jiveHome).
Now i am getting a new error:

2009.02.18 17:43:46 [init] Product kb is installed but there is no license for it
2009.02.18 17:43:46 [error] Jive Knowledge Base was not able to initialize : Product kb is installed but there is no license for it
com.jivesoftware.base.JiveRuntimeException: Product kb is installed but there is no license for it

Where can i get "kb license" and where i should put it into?

external users being directed to login

We are using a customized Jive Knowledge Base 1.7.5 for http://help.mapquest.com.

We do not want to allow users to create accounts or login, unfortunately, some invalid document urls redirect a user to the login page instead of displaying the not found/expired page.

For example http://help.mapquest.com/jive/entry.jspa?externalID=381&categoryID=40.

Visiting this url generates an HTTP 302 response that directs the user to the login form:

HTTP/1.x 302 Moved Temporarily
Location: http://help.mapquest.com/jive/login!default.jspa

Once a user is directed to the login page, a session cookie is being set and the user will be redirected to the login page for other valid documents until the cookie is manually cleared.

Any ideas on why some urls are redirecting to the login page?

Any ideas on how we can help affected users that may have session cookies set, causing them to get directed to a login page?

Can you turn off the Comments option under KB Docs?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone new if it was possible to turn off the option for end users to leave comments under knowledge base documents or if this is something hard coded intot he app. I couldn't find anything in the admin guide on this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Admins vs. Members in User Group

When creating in a user group in Clearspace (People > Management > Create Group), what's the difference between adding a user in Admins vs. Members? It seems intuitive, yet when I add a user to Admins, they don't seem to have admin privledges. Is this not a correct interpretation of this functionality?

Projects and project team

We are running Clearspace 2.5.1.

This entire text assumes that Clearspace Project space was designed to manage a project. I know it isn't a Microsoft Project wannabe. If its purpose is not to manage projects, but to allow the project creator to have a personal calendar and personal tasks (to do list?), then stop reading, and reply to me that it isn't meant to be a project manager.

I have projects to manage and people on that project.

When the project is first defined, I set up tasks for each person on the project. They do not receive any notification of the task. I have to send a separate email asking them to go to the project.

Then there is no capability of adding or deleting members.

The more I write this, the more I don't think the Project space is for managing projects. I guess that once I get an answer to that question, then I will know if I have legitimate concerns and issues to ask about.
