Hello,

I'm one of the community managers for United Business Media's pre-launch of Clearspace. As an IT channel company with a media arm, we have a lot of very visual people (aka designers) who will be using the tool. They like a lot of what Clearspace offers, but they would LOVE to have a calendar view for their 'My Stuff' tasks, rather just than a list view.Remember, these folks have been spolied by Apple and Adobe's interface designs!

So, instead of just a task list assigned to a person, they would see their tasks as a calendar with each day's tasks showing in calendar cells (not just Task #1 or something like that). Is this something that's in the works as a new feature? Generally, I think presenting information in a more visual way would entice more folks to dive in with greater enthusiasm.

Thoughts? How do you tackle this issue with your more visual users?

Hi Matt,

That's not something that we have in the application right now, but it would certainly make a great plugin. I bet if you post your ideas here, you could probably get someone in the community to work with you on an implementation. The Jotlet calandar plugin would be a good place to start if you are thinking of developing this yourself.

We're working on better Office integration for an upcoming release, so you may have the ability to export your task list to Outlook fairly soon. Stay tuned!

So....Would anyone in the community be interested in helping us implement this?

Problem with custom UserManager and AuthFactory in Clearspace Community

Hello,

I'm using clearspace community 2.0.1 and I'm trying to implement custom authentication system connected to my old DB. As far as i understund i'm supposed to implement both AuthFactory and UserManager.

I have to blockers so far.

First of all AuthFactory abstract class doesn't have methods i'm supposed to implement. If you chech in javadoc

The description says I'm supposed to override getAuthToken(String, String), getAuthToken(HttpServletRequest, HttpServletResponse), and getAnonymousAuthToken() which are not there.

Second thing. Even tho I've implemented them by just adding, and implemented my custom UserManager class - after setting them in System -> Admin -> System Properties (AuthFactory.className and UserManager.className) they're never invoked (i've tried also by runing setup wizard again - and same behaviour).

Could you please tell me what i'm doing wrong ?

Unable to load html file from plugin directory

Many of the resource loading error has been fixed in 2.01 but I'm still having problems with html files.

I've verified that javascript, image file, etc loading problem from plugin directory is fixed.

Does html files need to be in a special directory structure within plugin?

From FTL, I'm loading GWT javascript file which in turn loads html file.

Having a menu item link to an external URL

I am trying to modify the sample HelloWorld plugin that extends the menu in Clearspace 2.0 to have it link to URL's that are not part of CS. When I add the right link in the <url> tag:

<url>http://www.google.com/</url> it gets rewritten by the plugin manager (i Guess) to https://wiki.foo.com/clearspace/http:/www.google.com/.jspa

Any thoughts on how to do what I am trying to accomplish? I know I can pu this in an html widget, but I want to use menus to save screen real estat and such.

Error loading javascript in the plugin directory (Clearspace 2)

I'm trying to load javascript code but it is stuck on "loading..." according to the Firebug.

I"m trying to load C:\jiveHome\plugins\example\resources\gwtGui\sss.js from C:\jiveHome\plugins\example\resources\aaa.ftl.

Following code failed to load the js file.

When I manually type in the sss.js URL into the browser I get a prompt to save the file. But this file is always empty.

But when I do the same thing with aaa.flt it's good.

Can some one help?

Background Info

I am trying to add a GWT GUI component into the DIV part of the FTL page.

I wrote a plugin to display this complex GUI and eventually I want to access value stacks also.

UserEventDispatcher in a plugin

Hey guys,

I'm getting a UserEventDispatcher in my plugin init() (I've tried both getInstance and the injected usereventdispatcher) and am adding a userlistener. Everything seems to be fine except the listener never gets the login event. Is there something different in 2.0? Here's a code snippet:

Problem using getDocument.save() from DocCreateAction.execute()

Greetings,

We're using extended properties on documents to store some meta data. In order to save those extended properties, we issue a this.getDocument.save() from within the execute() method of our extended DocCreateAction class. It saves the extended properties just fine and in fact we have this feature in production now. But there's a problem with it that one of our users noticed. What happens is that the revision history for the document shows that the original author of the document made all of the changes to the document, no matter who actually edited the document. We debugged the problem and have isolated it down to the fact that our this.getDocument.save() call ends up calling DbDocumentDAO.updateDocumentVersion() after Clearspace has already written the new version using DbDocumentDAO.insertDocumentVersion(). The problem is that when updateDocumentVersion() is called, it uses bean.getUserID() when it writes the userID value to the jiveDocVersion table. getUserID() is returning the original author's userID instead of the currently logged in user's ID. Is this a bug in Clearspace? We noticed that the insertDocumentVersion() method uses bean.getCurrentUserID() when it writes the userID to jiveDocVersion, which seems correct to us. Why would updateDocumentVersion() use the original author's userID instead of the currently logged in user's ID?

We're using Clearspace internal, version 1.10.

Google widget exposing a CSX webservices widget

I have read some threads around here about building a webservices widget...has anyone gone the whole hog and crafted a Google widget to present data from the CSX widget?

For example, "Online Users" in CSX being exposed / mashed up on iGoogle...

Can the Jive link picker (mceJiveLink) be used for our own purposes?

Hi all,

We have created a customization to Clearspace that allows a user to specify name/url pairs and have those urls displayed in a widget that sits to the right of every page under the 'Actions' widget. It all works fine, but our users have asked us if the same link picker that is available while editing a document (by clicking on the 'chain link' icon) could be used in this custom UI that we have created. I've looked at the code and it seems that Jive has created a TinyMCE plugin in this case called 'mceJiveLink'. Is there any way to use this pop-up link picker outside of the TinyMCE context? In other words, just put a chain-link icon on one of our own templates and have the link picker pop-up and feed us a URL?
