This is an older presentation of ours, but it still resonates with many community teams. It also identifies the beginning of failure for online communities and some quick ideas for turning the community's trend around. Skip our marketing propaganda, the presentation has ideas that can help...

I like the presentation, and had to chuckle as soon as I read "too many chefs, not enough waiters."

There are a lot of great points in this presentation, especially in reference to mention of:

  • Complacency - too many people think that all they have to do is build it and then it will thrive on it's own
  • Coolness vs. Functionality - it may be way cool, but if people cannot figure out how to use it, they won't use it
  • Identifying and engaging top members - they are one of the most overlooked keys to a successful community, IMO

Thanks for sharing this!
