If I create a poll and I receive responses, once the poll reaches the expiration date, what happens to the poll/results. Finding the poll creating and editing commands is quite difficult, I don't see a place to review already created polls and wonder now if they simply disappear once they expire. I would like to review the final results of the poll to give me insight on future content choices. Help.
Thanks,
Ann
P.S. In creating this question/case, I chose the Community named "Cisco eLearning"....is this the correct category for the "Cisco Learning Network" issues?
Hi Ann,
This has been logged as a bug, but does not have a fix date yet. If you can let me know how severe this bug is for you, I can escalate the bug's severity internally.
Yes, you created it in the correct category. You also allowed this to be a public case, which means that it is visible to everyone, not just members of your company and Jive Support.
Thanks,

Thanks for the response. This isn't a bug, just a clarification on the poll feature behavior. When a poll expires, does it disappear even though the widge remains on the page? What happens to the responses from the expired poll?
Thanks,
Ann
Hi Ann,
The bug is that you cannot view the results of an expired poll, for the exact reason you want to (viewing the results!). None of the information is gone, there just isn't any way for you to navigate to it and view it.
Ah...any progress on providing access to expired poll results?
I would think it would be priority for many users, not just us. One doesn't always have the correct context for survey results until later, thus making the information potentially more poignant and useful over time...a good case for being able to store and review poll results. If nothing esle, perhaps there could be a button to export the results as a report and let me save them locally.
Ann
Hi Ann,
Unfortunately this still has not been touched by our dev team. I have raised the priority, and added a comment on how this is currently affecting you to the bug report.
Thanks, Will. I can't imagine we're the only ones who would like to retain their poll results.
I wonder if other customers have mentioned this...
Ann
I'd like to add my vote to having access to expired poll result. Didn't know about this bug to capture the info before the poll expired (arg!!!)
Can you please give a status on expiring poll information and how to access? Thank you!

Hi Cheryl,
This is currently scheduled for our 3.0 release, which is due out near the end of March!
Great to hear as we're currently in eval with CS and was wondering the same thing for my expired polls.
Hey All,
I'm working on improving this, but would like your input for the fix. You can currently view polls which are ended but not expired (allowing you to view the results), but as you know, you cannot view a poll which has expired. The question is, should everyone be able to see the results of expired polls, or just the user who created it, as they may have expired it for a reason (they do not want it visible any longer).
Let me know your thoughts, Thanks!
I was thinking about this and although not a hardcore Clearspace user my personal preference for polls is how Slashdot handles polls. There could always be an option for the creator to unpublish a poll say in the same manner one can unpublish blog posts in wordpress if need be.
Sorry am not communicating this in Clearspace terminology but hopefully this adds something to the conversation.
So yeah I wouldn't automatically remove the results from public view. We may want to let people see what the end result was. It leaves the option for the creator to decide to hide from publich view or expire.
Just to back this up, when you take part in a poll you tend to be interested in the result at the end of the date, not being able to see it tends to result in a 'WTF, wheres it gone?', well for me anyway. ![]()
The author should FOR SURE have access to the results. Perhaps it should be an option for the author to allow users to view the results as well.
Ann
Thanks for the input everyone! I'll be fixing this for our 3.0 release, and your responses have helped shaped the outcome!
Hi All,
Just to let you know, this bug has been fixed, and will be in 3.0. You will be able to view all expired polls if you were the creator, or have some level of admin for the space in which it was created, as well as for scheduled polls (same access levels).
That's great. What is entailed in doing an upgrade? What other enhancements are included in 3.0?
Upgrades and enhancement info will be available in the coming months, and the new version will be released near the end of March
Hi Will
Was it as well fixed in 2.5.x?
~Wolfgang
Hey Wolfgang,
The changes that were made we significant enough to NOT put them into a patch release of 2.5.x. This was done so that we did not introduce a change in functionality in a patch release.
Hi Will
Why didn't you add the link to that view-polls.jspa page nowhere in the user interface. Unless you have a poll you can go to you don't find it anywhere. I would expect it to appear as well under browse. Is that something you would consider as feature request?
~Wolfgang
Hi,
You could always just link that that in a formatted text or HTML widget, and yes, if you'd like it to be in the the Browse -> menu, it would be a simple customization, or a feature request at this point.
Thanks,
Wolfgang's suggestion to add the ability to view poll results to the menu seems like a no-brainer.
Why require a customization paid for by each customer or a coding a widget that will only appear as often as the widget is re-created and placed on pages where the creator of the poll would like it to appear. Wouldn't it make more sense to add the viewing functionality to the menu as Wolfgang has suggested and create the correct, sensible, user-requested functionality from the get-go.
Since this is the first time it has been brought up, I offered a simple & free workaround for functionality that is not currently there.
I have filed a feature request (CS-13363), and it will be evaluated for our 3.5 release.
I brought up the issue of access to expired polls last June...it's been nearly a year in discussion. Since the bug fix is finally being addressed and incorporated, it seems to me that crafting it to make it user friendly from the outset would make sense...rather than requiring work-arounds before it's even available.
AM
The feature request for the additional link to browse polls is filed, and you can now view more polls / expired polls in 3.x.
Will, I saw CS-13363 is not assigned to any release yet. Is there a chance this can sneak in anytime soon? Thanks a lot!
Hey Andreas,
I have moved this to our Future Suggestions, which is where our Product team looks more actively for feature requests to schedule. I have also added a comment noting your desire to have this one added.
Cheers,
