Hi - I have a sandbox area on Godaddy - Linux... I would like to install so I can see the admin side of Clearspace and appreciate what it takes to build a community.
I have downloaded a zip and although I have shell access would prefer to ftp to sub directory and instal with sample database.
How do I do this?
Hi Ian,
This should be fairly simple assuming you are just testing this out and this isn't a production deployment. I would suggest downloading the standalone version of Clearspace for evaluation purposes.
Here are more specific docs:

Thanks.

Thanks - my challenge is running the shell script - I seldom use the shell access to my website and remain technically challenged on that aspect of building websites.... I'll be sure to let you know how that goes later today.
I have another question - its about pricing. I see that pricing is based upon number of users. Are registrations counted as users or does users only apply to the number of administrators?
I am hoping that the number of registered users/members/guests/subscribers is not part of licensing - this would be cost inhibitive should the site gain popularity!
If I get stuck on the installation can someone help... it is for evaluation purposes. By Monday I'll be making a decision on how to go forward and whether to replace Community Server in my networking strategy.
Thanks
Ian

Hey Ian,
Running the shell script shouldn't be too hard at all. If you log in your should just be able to run it with something like this:
./start-clearspace.sh &
That will run it in the background so that when you close the SSH session it will still continue running. Let me know if you need any further assistance. Thanks!

Just setting up new domain so I can eval this weekend - and pointing a domain name to it on my test virtual dedicated server. Are you able to answer my question about licensing? Pricing seems to be based upon # users. Are these admin/author/manager users? I'm hoping it excludes registered/member level users at $59/year each...!
