Add Custom Tabs within Communties

Hi guys,

We were wondering if it's possible to create custom tabs inside communties. We want to create a "Videos" tab inside all of our subcommunities so it would look like:

Overview - All Content - Discussions - Docuements - Blogs - VIDEOS

I've read through some existing threads here and it looks like it's possible. Can oyu guys give us a point int he right direction on this one? To us, it makes more sense to add these tabs as opposed to creating entirely new subcommunties dedicated to videos. Thanks!

Rick

Re: Add Custom Tabs within Communties

Hey Rick,

Have you seen our 3.0 SBS release? We have a Video Module which can do this automatically for you

If you still want to add a tab, please see this document which explains the ui-components stuff, which is how our tabs (and many other things) are added / shown, etc. UI Components: Frequently Asked Questions

Let me know if you have any further questions!

Re: Add Custom Tabs within Communties

Hi Will,

Thanks for the documentation. I'm sure this is a dumb question, but can you tell me where I can find the xml files? Are they in Admin or are they outside of admin on our server?

Thanks

Angela

Re: Add Custom Tabs within Communties

If you want to edit it directly (not recommended) it'll be on the server, not in the admin console.

Best practice is to build a plugin to add the tabs for you, which is fairly straightforward, and an example is shown in the document I referenced above.

To better serve our customers we have included functionality to automatically follow up on a case after it has been idle for more than 5 days, and then auto close after an additional 3 days of inactivity. Choose No to acknowledge that this case will remain idle for longer than 5 days.
Making cases public allows other customers to learn from the solution of the case. It can also be used to gain feedback from others in the community. Ask our Support Engineers for more info, but we encourage you to make your cases public.
