I'm a bit floored.
1 that the username is case sensitive so users are able to make duplicate accounts using the same alphanumeric characters only varying the case of each of those letters.
2 That there is no Forgot Username option. I see this request below for a forgot username option but it has been archived so I can't make a comment myself. Does this not seem like a logical option to add to the core code? Especially since some communities have users that come every few months. I admit on occasion I will forget the username I used for a site and it is always good when I can be reminded of my username.

Hi Mark,
I understand your concerns, and I have noted them on the internal feature requests that we have open for both of these.
If you don't mind, we can make this a public case to get more people behind this feature discussion.
Thanks,
Sure, go ahead make it public.

A vote for this from me as well! ![]()
Woohoo! Thanks Caroline!
I am also strongly in favor of this feature. Perhaps it could be as easy as changing prompt for "forgot password" to request your email address rather than a "case sensitive" user name. Anything that prevents wasting my support staff time researching user's proper userID and deleting duplicate accounts would be appreciated.
sdougherty-
Thanks for the support. We have a jump in visits by 6 times in the last week. The sooner the better for me as well. We've got bigger fish to fry at this point.

Thanks for resurfacing this, Mark. It's definitely something that makes sense for us to address. Exact timing is TBD but I'm pushing for this with the people who tackle such things. ![]()
Is anyone getting messages from their community members that they are concerned about password reset requests?
e.g.
User though is username was nick when in fact it was actually Nick. "nick" received countless password reset requests day after day as "Nick" never got the request. "nick" became alarmed that someone was trying to hack his account. Fortunately I knew "Nick" and assured "nick" that it was a mistake in capitalization.
