Product Upgrade Strategy

Hello,

Would you recommend migrating all other wikis/forums/blogs to Clearspace2.5.7 and then to upgrade to SBS 3.0

OR

Should we first upgrade Clearspace 2.5.7 to SBS 3.0 and then migrate content from other tools.

Thanks,

Re: Product Upgrade Strategy

Hi,

Will you please elaborate on what you are trying to migrate into Clearspace?  What are all of the sources you want to migrate?  Also, I just want to note that 2.5.15 is the newest 2.5 release, and you should migrate to this first (rather than 2.5.7) to minimize any possible bugs from interfering with the process.

Thanks,

Cory

Re: Product Upgrade Strategy

Hi,

I would suggest installing Clearspace 2.5.15 and using the Forums Importer plugin.  Then upgrade to 3.0 and perform the rest of your migrations.

Thanks,

Cory

Re: Product Upgrade Strategy

The importer also works with Postgres.  I would suggest migrating your Oracle database to Postgres.  You should be able to use the program ora2pg.

Thanks,

Cory

Re: Product Upgrade Strategy

I am sorry, that is probably not the smoothest route you could take.  Use the Jive Forums XML Export/Import feature to migrate your database to Postgres.  Then, upgrade to Clearspace 2.5.  You can access the XML Import & Export feature in the Admin Console under System > Forum System > XML Import & Export.

Thanks,

Cory
