Hello,
Our Test and Production environments are being built on Oracle, however we have a small "POC" environment running on Postgres where some of our business users have made some look-and-feel changes to the environment. And going forward, we may want to migrate some data from environment to environment (Oracle to Oracle). I have the following questions:
Thanks!
Eric Hendrickson
Hi Eric,
There are two places where instance-specific data are stored: the database and the jiveHome directory. The database stores all content and settings for the application. The jiveHome directory stores some metadata and custom themes.
If you wanted to port an SBS instance from one server to another, and change databases in the process, you would need to do the following:
Detailed information on how to perform the migration can be found here: http://www.jivesoftware.com/builds/docs/jive_sbs_employee/latest/admin/InstallingOnLinux.html#upgrading_an_rpm_installation.
Hope that helps!

Karl
Hi Karl,
So is it fair to say then, that copying a complete Jive environment is possible this way, even from 3.0.5 on Postgress to 3.0.8 on Oracle, but copying just portions (say, selected system-wide settings or branding/look-and-feel settings) is not possible?
It's the entire environment or nothing, in other words?
Thanks,
Eric
Hi Eric,
If you only want to port over the theme, you can copy the contents of jiveHome/themes to the new server.

Karl
Hi Eric,
Do you have any more questions about this, or can this case be closed?
Regards,
Karl
