Trouble with short (2 letter) space names in SBS 3.0.6

We have a couple of short space names in SBS 3.0.6, they are called "IT" and "HR".

 

When I search using the search box in the upper right, or try to insert a link into a document, I can find "HR", but cannot find "IT".

 

When adding a link, even if I restrict the search to spaces only, it still does not find "IT".

 

This is such a common name for an Info. Technology group that I hoping other users have encountered this issue.  The obvious solution is to simply rename the space to something else, which we will do if there is no other fix.

I have reproduced this issue, and I have filed a bug for it.  The bug ID is CS-17054.
