Hello all,
I am looking for an easy way to block inviting users to groups via email (SMTP). Maybe it exist someplace and I am simply overlooking it for some reason. The problem is that I work for a very large company in which only a small division has purchased SBS. We would like to use SBS only in our division and I am able to control access via AD however some of our users have been sending invites to coworkers in other divisions which we would rather not give access too at this time. Its a little awkward at the moment explaining to these people why they cant logon and its creating a bit of a mess for our admins. Is there a way that I can restrict the invite to groups feature only to the registered users roster? This would save us all a lot of headaches.
Thanks!
Hey Jeff,
Sorry, but right now we don't restrict that ability out of the box. We can restrict it for communities with a system property, but there's nothing built in for groups. One fix that you can try is to customize the /template/invitation/invite.ftl. This is the screen that people see when they click the invite link while in a group. You could put in text warning them to not invite people that aren't in a certain dept of your company because you currently don't have Jive SBS enabled for the others yet. If you would like to go this route, we have a lot of great documentation on theming, some of which I've included here:
I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
Kevin
Thanks Kevin,
That was one of my ideas too to try to modify the ftl. I will give that a try.
Jeff
