Jive SBS 3.0, development, Mac OS X

I want to be able to do development with Jive SBS 3.0 on Mac OS X.

I could not find a Mac-specific download on the Jive web site.    The only downloads were a Windows binary and Linux RPM's.  Do I need to use the Linux RPM's my Mac?

Hi Sean,

I thnk for development, you'd have to download the source or use the Jive maven archiva.

Getting an instance running from the maven archiva us easy once you have access and there are good instructions in the development community on how to use maven to create yur project for SBS and plugins.

I am also interested in having something on the Mac platform.  Can we build our own tar-gzip file?

The developer training comes with an SBS 3.0.8 version which runs on a Mac.  I have it installed on my Mac.  Maybe someone at Jive can direct you to the correct download link.

The Jive SBS 3.0 Developer Training Course includes a pre-configured development environment consisting of Eclipse, Tomcat, and the SBS 3.0.x source code for both Mac and PC systems.  It makes it very easy to get up and running within a few minutes.

You can find information about course enrollment and pricing here: Jive Training Course Pricing

Hi jnieten,

If you are a customer of Jive, you can request access to their internal maven repository.

The Developers community is a good source of information on how to setup your own local project.

What you'd need on the Mac is:

You can use maven to build your own Jive SBS project which you can also execute locally using the cargo which is included in the module.

You can follow the instructions below to perform the initial build:

Maven: Start Here

I have only attempted this on Windows, but there's no reason why this wouldn't also work on the Mac.

Take the Jive Developers training.  It is a fairly decent course and can round out your knowledge of the system.  As an added bonus they have downloads of an integrated environment for both Windows and Mac.  You can set up an SBS 3.0.X with Tomcat inside of Eclipse.  Makes building plugins well worth it.
