Hello!
Clearspace 2.5.5 here.
We've updated the homepage using the admin 'Customize Main Homepage' link to create a different experience for the users.
When a user personalizes their homepage, then clicks 'reset to default' button, it resets it to the original system default.
How can we have that 'reset to default' button for personlize my hompage at the user level reset the layout to the Admin defined custom homepage?
Thanks,
Will
Wow - this is the #1 hit in Google for jive "system default" homepage
Anyway - question: Should I click "System Default" to set the current page that we have customized as the system default, or will that reset the current page that we have customized back to the original default page?
I DO NOT want to lose my customizations.
Thank you,
Will
Still not answered.
How do we make our admin customized homepage the default page for the site?
Thank you,
Will
Hi Will,
The "edit" link allows you to change the layout and contents of that page for you but not anyone else. The "system default" allows you to change the layout and contents of that page for new users and users that click "Reset to Default" button in their own "edit" mode. Existing users will not be affected by alteration to the system default unless they press "Reset to Default" and then "Publish Layout".
You must press "Publish Layout" for "edit" and "Save" for "system default" before any changes will takes effect (though the site will keep track of the changes in the editor).
Unfortunately, you can't make your own view the system default without going through the same edits under "system default". However, you will never lose your own view unless you explicitly say to in "edit" mode (that is, pressing "Publish Layout").
I would recommend having your own view open in one tab/window and the "system default" editor open in another. Hopefully, dragging and dropping the widgets the way you did before shouldn't be too hard, and you can copy and paste content from one to the other.
Note that if you did edit the system default and press "Save", but users are reverting back the original when they press "Reset to Default", let me know. When I tried it out on my own installation, things seemed to be working, but its possible there is something strange going on.
Hope the helps!
Bryan
I am one of the admins.
To clarify, when I click the 'System Default' link, it will set the Customized Homepage that I have created for all users as the new default homepage for when a user clicks the 'reset to default' link.
Or, when I click the 'System Default' link, it will show the default page, which I can then modify to look like the customized homepage I have created for all users?
(Don't want to go and lose anything before I click a link...)
Hi Will,
Have no fear! Clicking "system default" alone will have no permanent effects whatsoever. It will display the current system default and open up the some editor that clicking "edit" will. Once you use the editor to set up the view how you like, clicking save will then override the original default with the edits you just made. Unless you click save, no lasting effects will occur.
So, I think
Or, when I click the 'System Default' link, it will show the default page, which I can then modify to look like the customized homepage I have created for all users?
would be the most accurate description.
Perfect - exactly what I needed to hear.
Thank you!
Glad I could help! Let me know if you have anymore questions.
