In 1.7, there is a function on the admin console at Communities -> Settings -> Blog Settings. This function isn't available on our 2.5 test instance. Did it move somewhere? Or how do I perform the blog settings functions?
Thanks, Robert
Sorry for the delay in replying here -- I didn't see your reply, so I thought I was still waiting on you. My bad.
Anyway, I'm still very interested in an answer to this question. Let me rephrase the question with more detail:
On a community, there is an "Overview" tab, a "Discussions" tab, a "Documents" tab, and a "Blogs" tab. The question is how do I configure a specific blog to display on the "Blogs" tab? In 1.x, there were two ways to do it. When you created a community, you could specify a blog as a the community blog for that community, and it would show up on the "Blogs" tab. This still works in 2.x, so this is great. The second way was this: After a community is created in 1.x, you could log into the admin console, and go to Communities -> Settings -> Blog Settings, and then add a blog to the community. In 2.x, if I log into the admin console and go to Communities -> Settings, I don't see a "Blog Settings" option anymore, and therefore I don't know how to use this method to configure a blog onto a community. Can you explain how you do this?
Or here's another way of saying this: I can't find this corresponding screen in Clearspace 2.5? Where is it, or how do I perform the functions available on this screen in 2.5?
Thanks, Robert
Hi Robert,
This functionallity is no longer possible in 2.5. You can create blogs in communities, in a user's account, or a system blog. The screenshot you sent would be considered a system blog. You cannot link communities to system blogs in 2.5.
Thanks,
Cory
You wrote, "You can create blogs in communities."
How do I create a blog in a community? Or assign a blog to a community?
Thanks, Robert
Hi Robert,
When you create a Community, you can select Blogs as a content type for the space:
If you have already created the community, you can add Blogs under Community > Settings > Community Settings in the Admin Console. Use the (change community) link at the top of the page to select the community you want to work with.
Once Blogs are enabled for a specific community, you should see the option to create a Blog Post under the actions widget for that community:
Let me know if you have trouble with any of this.
Thanks,
Cory
I think the answer is the Blogs -> Management -> Migrate function in the admin console, which is new for v2.5.
Hi,
I am not sure what you mean by that last response. Can you please elaborate? Have you resolved this issue?
Thanks,
Cory
Issue resolved. The function I noted allows me to associate a blog with a community, which was my original question.
