About Clearspace DB migration

Hi Team

Recently we are planning to migrate Database from MS SQL2000 to MySQL5 and upgrade clearspace to latest version.

We tried to use the migration function that clearspace bundled but seems it will spend a lot of time(might be 40hours) since the size of our DB is about 20GB.

And the process crashed few times while long time migration for some reason.

I tested MySQL migration kit and it works well in migration. The whole process spent almost 4 hours. But I don't know how to connect the database transfered by mysql migration kit to Clearspace.

I was wondering is this way possible for the clearspace db migration?\

We will be very appreciated for any assistance.

Thank you very much.

Re: About Clearspace DB migration

Eda, to confirm I understand correctly:
You've migrated the MS SQL database to Mysql?

Now, you're now trying to connect the Mysql database to Clearspace? If this is the case, you can simply re-run through Clearspace setup and reconfigure the database settings.

In initialize Clearspace's setup console, edit the {jiveHome}/jive_startup.xml and modify <setup>true</setup> to false. Restart the application and the next time you hit the site, you'll be welcomed with the Setup console.

Re: About Clearspace DB migration

Hey Eda, any settings in the application that you may have changed are stored in the database... so if you point the application to the newly migrated database it should retain all the settings. As always, backup and test thoroughly before pushing to production.
