Newbie, please help!

Hi,

I am an absolute newbie. But I am very keen on putting a forum on my site. I have long been looking for one but so far couldn't manage to put any forum on my site. After seeing Jive by chance and after concluding that it would be easier to set it up I decided to try it. But unfortunately due to my very limited knowledge of such things I am unable to put it on my site either. Let me cut it short and try to tell about what I have done and hope that someone might give me a hand.

Right, I uploaded everything to my site as described in the documentation file, in accordance with the directory structure there. And when it came to the 'database' thing I was totally hopeless. Because I know absolutely nothing on mySQL or Oracle etc. My web is www.zurna.org, so I omitted that part just to see what was going to happen when I try to run the setup.

And when I did that, i.e. typed http://www.zurna.org/jive/admin/setup it took me to a page where it said parent directory, and other directories listed underneath.

Well, I am aware that I am asking too much  because to help me will be a total pain for whoever might try it but I do want a forum on my site and I decided to give it a try. Maybe there's someone who's even more than generous to give me a hand on that and  I would very much appreciate it. Let me tell you though, that's going to be a tough one, because I know nothing

Thanks in advance

Re: Newbie, please help!

First off, does your web host satisfy the minimum system requirements for install Jive ?  These requirements and installation instructions are found on: http://www.jivesoftware.com/builds/docs/2.0.beta3/documentation/index.html

Check those first.
