FlashCharts Idea

Hey guys,

The Flashcharts plugin looks awesome. But, I'm worried that the XML syntax is going to be tough for end users to figure out. Some random ideas:

  • What if you could refer to a table in the document and use that as the data source? That might work in one of two ways: wrap a table with a chart tag or we could figure out a way for users to name a table then let them refer to that table name with the chart tag.

  • Chart generation in the GUI editor would obviously rock, although that's likely considerable work.

  • What if charts could be generated from attached Excel files? Most people have their data in Excel anyway...

Re: FlashCharts Idea

Hi Matt,

I think you may be psychic !!

We actually just had a team meeting yesterday to evaluate specifications for an upcoming 'Enterprise' version of the Appfire FlashCharts Plugin.

The idea of building a slick GUI for data entry looks like it will be central to the 'Enterprise' edition.

Stay tuned for more info on this, as well as other cool feature enhancements  ...

Cheers,

-Mat

Hi Matt,

To help organize user feedback, we've started two new discussion threads.

  1. Re: Testing the Appfire FlashCharts Plugin with Clearspace X 2.0

  2. Appfire FlashCharts Plugin - Resolving Issues

Thanks again for the ideas !!

Cheers,
