Create a default "Your View" for all users

As admin, I would like to customize the "Your View" page for all users.  How can I do that.

Hey Elaine,

 

I just tested this out on 2.5.6 and it is working correctly. Are you checking with existing users who haven't edited their 'Your View' tab or are you checking with newly registered users? The System Default option will only take affect for any users that have been created after making that change. Existing users will see the older layout.

That's exactly what I was doing- checking with users that had been created who were defaulting to the old layout.  Next implementation I will configure Your View first and then I will create users, in that order!  Thanks.

Is there any way at all to change the default view for existing users?  Can it be done before or during an upgrade perhaps?  I'm thinking about when we upgrade to 3.0, there are new widgets that I would like to add to the default that our existing users may not know about otherwise.  Thank you!

I'd like to second Lindsey's request. I would like to be able to change the global view for all users, not just new users. I don't think we'll understand the full wonder of Jive on Day 1! We will want to add functionality going forward.

 

Is there anything existing users can do to "upgrade" to the new format, other than adding each widget by hand? Would a reset to default work?

Clearspace will pull from a 'template' for the layout when a user is created, but there's no way to change the default view for already created users. In your particular use case, you might want to try creating a document or announcement training users on the newly available widgets, as the user will still have access to the widgets themselves (you just can't force a layout on them in the personalized space).

Thanks, Vinh. I might just suggest to users that they select Reset to

Default (most have not customized much) along with certainly doing some

education around the new features available.

So, will that work? If existing members click the default layout, will they see the new format we set? That works for me!
