Quick question: We're having some reported issues with our email notifications for private messages and I wanted to clarify exactly how they work to help our investigations.
Am I right in thinking that there is not option for a user to turn them off/on as there is with the others? (I can't find it on the preferences section if there is).
Does it only notify you if you're not logged in at the time that a message is sent? I suspect our installation is doing this but I wanted to check if that is how it's designed or whether it's our mail server doing something odd.

Private messages can be disabled globally by changing the associated system property but they cannot be turned on or off by the user. With regard to your second question: Private message notifications should alyways be sent out despite login status.
