Let's definitely talk.  I just did a similar webinar like this for another customer this week, using various "Watch a User" and "Watch a Tag" widgets, along with RSS Subscription widgets, etc to make that homepage show you exactly what you want.  Would be happy to share my notes or do a webinar with you as well.
