Leading Technical University Selects Jive Social Business Software
Southern Polytechnic Connects Students, Faculty and Staff
PORTLAND, OR, JANUARY 28, 2009 - Jive, the Social Business Software leader, announced that Southern Polytechnic State University (SPSU) implemented Jive's collaboration platform for its social business initiative. Marietta, Georgia based SPSU wanted to provide students, faculty and staff with a new way to work together, connect and collaborate on educational and administrative topics. University leaders looked to Social Business Software to help address many of the university's current challenges stemming from unprecedented growth in the student body as well as a large increase in online courses. The new system will help address these challenges by facilitating open communication between all university stakeholders.
Social Business Software will play a critical role in SPSU's First Year Experience initiative designed to foster communication and a sense of belonging among new students in the University. This completely new environment will serve as the primary place where students and faculty will interact. Faculty and administrators will be able to blog about recent news and changes within the University and students will be able to form their own groups based on common interests such as athletics, courses and community activities.

"Students can connect and stay in touch with their classmates while various committees and faculty groups can interact and collaborate with each other in an organized and enduring manner that is far more usable and coordinated than simply emailing a group list."
