Jive Unveils Strategy For Leading Social Business Software Market

PORTLAND, OR, March 10, 2009 - Today, Jive Software unveiled its Social Business Software leadership strategy.

During the last year Jive has made a multi-million dollar investment in a new strategy designed to extend its leadership in the rapidly growing market for Social Business Software.

Jive's SBS leadership strategy has three seminal components:

  • Create the first purpose-built, enterprise-class, Social Business Software application suite - Jive SBS 3.0 (see corresponding release, "Jive Launches First Social Business Software Suite").
  • Build an enterprise go-to-market model for selling, servicing and supporting the most demanding Global 2000 companies and governments.
  • Create the Jive Industry - the largest collection of strategic technology, application, and services partners in the SBS market.

"The bad economy is driving executives to invest in new ways get business done," said Dave Hersh, CEO of Jive. "Social Business Software is the first new application category to appear in over a decade that delivers a real breakthrough in cost, productivity, and competitive advantage. Jive is the first SBS company with a complete strategy for meeting the needs of Global 2000 companies and governments."

Social Software is already used by over 175 million individuals and now enterprises are rapidly investing to become social businesses. The market is expected to grow significantly in the coming years. Forrester Research predicts, "Enterprise spending on Web 2.0 technologies will grow strongly over the next five years, reaching $4.6 billion globally by 2013,"[1] and Gartner forecasts, "By 2012, more than 30% of large organizations will have deployments of social software available to all their employees."[2]

Jive is a clear market leader in Social Business Software. Jive recognized 70% revenue growth and the addition of more than 200 marquis customers in 2008. As well, Jive's technology is widely recognized as superior. Jive was recently named a Leader in "The Forrester Wave: Community Platforms, Q1 2009" (January 2009) and placed in the ‘Visionaries' quadrant of the October 2008 Enterprise Social Software Magic Quadrant report published by Gartner.

"Social software is a must have for today's enterprise - companies turning a blind eye will be left behind," said Nikos Drakos, Research Director, Gartner. "Social software for business is beginning to provide value and results, as it reaches all critical points of a company - employees, customers, partners, innovation, revenue and more."
