Jive Powers Congressional Collaboration with Launch of National Journal Group's 3121

Professional Networking Initiative a First-of-its Kind Network, Directory & Collaboration Tool for Congressional Members, Staff

Portland, OR - September 17, 2009

Company News

  • Jive, the Social Business Software leader, today announced the launch of National Journal Group's 3121, powered by Jive. Continuing its momentum in the government space, Jive's Social Business Software (SBS) provides the social networking and collaboration platform for 3121.
  • Named after the long-time Capitol Hill switchboard extension, 3121, a new feature of NationalJournal.com, is the first professional networking tool designed exclusively for congressional members and staff. 3121 arms them with the content, collaboration tools and contact information they need to help make the legislative process more effective and efficient.  Hill staffers can locate and collaborate with colleagues and create personalized news filters using Jive's secure platform.
  • Jive SBS serves as the social collaboration platform at a number of high profile U.S. government projects including the A-Space program, Military Homefront, NASA, and Air Force Medical Service Knowledge Exchange.

Commentary

  • "So much of what goes into making legislation is connecting the right people to the right issues at the right time," said Dave Hersh, CEO of Jive Software. "National Journal Group's 3121 initiative will help reduce the complexity of policymaking, bringing teams of staffers together in a secure collaborative environment. National Journal is giving its readers the tools they need to forge new relationships and make progress on the initiatives that ultimately impact all of us."
  • "We had two key requirements for the 3121 system: it had to break down the silos that exist between staffers, offices, and chambers, and it had to be secure," said Chris Contakes, chief technology officer of National Journal Group. "Jive is already the Social Business Software standard for several federal departments, and it has an excellent security track record within the U.S. intelligence community. We believe Jive is an excellent choice to help staffers reach new levels of collaboration and cooperation on key legislation."

About Jive in the Federal Government

  • Working with organizations including NASA, the U.S. Army, the Air Force Medical Service and members of the U.S. intelligence community, Jive is helping to connect the dots in a more productive, innovative way--agency to agency, department to department, people to people and system to system. Jive Social Business Software (SBS) employs the most rigorous security measures in the industry, and is essentially the defacto standard for the intelligence community, with tens of thousands of users.
