News from JiveWorld17: Day Two Recap

Jive promised big surprises and big announcements at JiveWorld17, and now that the event is close to wrapping up we can enthusiastically report that the industry’s premier communication and collaboration conference didn’t disappoint. Over the course of three days, our attendees were treated to more than 60 customer-led breakout sessions. This year, we heard speaker presentations from a wide range of diverse industries representing business, healthcare and government – including experts from Dell, McGraw-Hill Education, Providence St. Joseph Health and NASA.
In the Day Two Keynote, Commvault’s Chief Communication Officer, Bill Wohl, kicked off the proceedings by comparing solving business problems to fighting fires. And Bill should know – he’s been a volunteer firefighter for more than 30 years. He talked about how Jive has helped Commvault “attack big problems, solve serious business cases and built a foundation to completely transform the way we work.” Following Bill, Jive’s own Chief Customer Success Officer hosted a customer panel in which representatives from American Express Global Business Travel, Société Générale and New Relic talked about how Jive can solve use cases for businesses of sizes ranging from 1,000 employees to 140,000. Finally, the duo of Choir! Choir! Choir! raised the roof (and the heart rates of attendees) by convincing everybody to participate in a rousing rendition of Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing, as well as a surprisingly touching version of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah.

In perhaps the most exciting news of the conference, Jive introduced Jive Labs. By partnering with third-party academia and research organizations, the company plans broaden the research ecosystem and support independent efforts to help organizations maximize the way employees work. Jive Labs’ first breakthrough extends Jive’s successful insights and analytics portfolio, including People Analytics, to unify the WorkGraph™ through universal identification, content and search, and enable organizational network analysis (ONA). During the conference, Jive demonstrated how the prototype can leverage Jive WorkGraph™ intelligence to proactively recommend a team with the most impactful employees from across a large organization for specific strategic projects, as well as an additional use case surrounding how the collaboration hub can deliver predictive behavior analytics.
Jive also announced its recent partnership with Connected Commons, an industry consortium dedicated to bring its more than 20 years of collective community research to enable breakthrough work in a connected economy. Jive joins an elite group of heavy-hitters, including Cigna, GM, GE, Workday, Boeing, Cisco and Microsoft, to share best practices and scientific research, and co-create open source solutions and tools that enable organizational success. “I’ve dedicated my career to researching how organizational relationships and informal networks can provide competitive advantage,” said Rob Cross, Ph.D., professor of global business at Babson College and a Connected Commons core team member. “It’s great to see collaboration experts like Jive embrace the importance of ONA and work with the community to help turn research into real technology that will drive fundamental change in how businesses operate.”
Day two also brought news that Viavi Solutions, the leader global networking technology, has rolled out Jive’s collaboration hub across its entire business ecosystem. Over the past year, Viavi successfully implemented a Jive-powered Interactive Intranet for employees, an external community for partners and, most recently, a Jive Customer Community portal to improve customer loyalty and retention through advanced online service and support.
Finally, Although the conference is winding down, we’re not finished. Tomorrow, we announce the elite “Jive 5” from this year’s 25 Digital Transformation Awards winners for their industry-leading innovations and leadership in workforce collaboration or customer engagement. The categories for the 2017 Jive 5 awards are Excellence in Employee Engagement, Culture of Collaboration, Excellence in Clinical Collaboration, Powering Human Connection and Jive for the Greater Good.
