Allianz: Global Insurer Centralizes Communication with Jive Intranet
International Insurer Allianz Facilitates Global Collaboration With Next-Gen Intranet
How an insurance giant is streamlining communication and collaboration across dozens of subsidiaries and global locations with the help of a Jive-powered hub.
Imagine trying to connect and collaborate across more than 70 subsidiaries scattered around the world, each with its own separate intranet. Now imagine how much simpler things would be if you replaced all that fragmentation with a central collaborative hub, where everyone could go to get information, communicate and work together.
That’s what Allianz is doing. The insurance giant is consolidating its communications on an interactive intranet called Allianz Connect, powered by Jive. It gives all of the company’s employees – regardless of their location or place in the organization – one place to do their jobs.
“Everybody can meet everybody and initiate any kind of communication, collaboration, whatever you want on the same platform in real time, and whatever is created there is available for everybody else,” says Global Portal Manager Michael Wegscheider. “And that’s the ideal situation for a company.”
Allianz is an insurance company that operates in, I think, 70 different countries with between 70 and 80 subsidiaries, each subsidiary having its own intranet from a global communication perspective. Already, this is quite a challenge. When it comes to collaboration across those subsidiaries, it’s still another issue. We were looking for a tool that was able to fulfill all of our needs: communication, collaboration, and networking, and that was Jive in the end.
With Jive, we started with a pure social network but this wasn’t enough for us. We really wanted to build a global platform. To achieve this, we turned the Allianz social network into the global social intranet which we called Allianz Connect. And then for the first time, we had a platform where we could basically reach everybody in the global Allianz. So we see topic communities developing across the countries, across the subsidiaries. We see teams collaborating across the nations and across the subsidiaries. And obviously, we see a different kind of global corporate communication also. Everybody can participate worldwide.
Ultimately, that’s our goal: to have one global working environment for everybody with the same tools. Everybody can meet everybody and initiate any kind of communication, collaboration, whatever you want on the same platform in real time, and whatever is created there is available for everybody else. And that’s the ideal situation for a company. Nothing gets lost. And everybody knows all the time where to look for stuff, where to look for people, where to look for skills, and that’s basically my vision.
