Improvements
Your Documents
In Jive SBS 4.0, you become a new place where content can be stored. Instead of saving your content in a group or place where it doesn’t really belong, you can save documents to “Your Documents” and determine who can see or edit them.
Private Discussions
Sometimes you just want to have a discussion and not designate a group or place for it. Instead of starting a discussion where it doesn’t really belong, now you can securely invite people to discuss a topic privately without having to associate it with a group or place.
New Page Layouts
Have you ever wanted to lay out your community homepage, space or group just so? We now provide a variety of new out-of-the box layouts that give you a broader array of personalization options.
Enhanced Dashboard Configuration
Not only are we offering some cool new widgets, we’ve organized and displayed them in a way that makes it easier to select them. And, when you do choose one, you can auto-preview the content before you adding it to your dashboard.
Rich Document Previews
No need to download and open Microsoft Office documents in order to review and comment on them. With Jive SBS 4.0, you can preview and comment on any Word, PowerPoint, or PDF without downloading them.
Multi-Lingual Search
Global deployments of Jive SBS will benefit from support for multi-lingual searches, separate analyzers for each language supported, and the ability to specify a language when performing a search.
Categories
Now when you create a new group, project or space, you can also create a drop-down menu of categories for your members to associate their content with. For example, if you create a group called, “Training”, you can create categories such as “Courses”, “Videos”, “Synopses” and “Evaluations”. You can also associate specific tags with categories; if someone tags content “rating” or “review”, it can be automatically categorized under “Evaluations”.
New User Wizard
New avatar creation makes it simple for a new user to create an avatar from their uploaded profile picture or select an avatar from a supplied gallery. In addition, the default dashboard layout for new users come pre-configured with a new widgets including the a tips and tricks widget to help users become comfortable with working inside SBS.
Enhanced Activity Stream
Recent activity now includes image previews, user avatars, content statistics and content snapshots. This improved presentation not only provides more context for the activities of the people you’re connected to but also speeds the discovery and discernment of content.
